I Was Born Free

"We're all one thing, Lieutenant. That's what I've come to realize. Like cells in a body. 'Cept we can't see the body. The way fish can't see the ocean. And so we envy each other. Hurt each other. Hate each other. How silly is that? A heart cell hating a lung cell." - Cassie from THE THREE

Hi there,
I hope you all enjoyed the remix of Running Up That Hill this evening at the Olympics Closing Ceremony. They certainly put on a brilliant show.
Putting out a two sentence statement starting with “Hi there,” instead of actually appearing at the Olympics as everyone thought she was makes Kate Bush my #1 favorite recluse.

She fiercely protects her privacy: any walkers unlucky enough to mistake her garden path for a towpath may find that she emerges from the house, shrieking, and tells them to get off her private property.

No one can recall her ever going to the local pub, the Fox & Hounds, or even saying ‘hello’ to her neighbours. She has also removed the house name from view to deter nosey parkers.

Whoa, I’m pretty sure this is Kate Bush’s first public appearance in over 7 years.

Wow so the guy who broke into Kate Bush’s house to propose to her made this video as he was getting ready to do it.

Not what I expected!!!!

I kind of like this, oddly. It’s like what you’d expect a slightly boring live version to sound like. Maybe Kate Bush is now ripping off Tori Amos?

Kate Bush,

Oh! England, my Lionheart,
I’m in your garden, fading fast in your arms.
The soldiers soften, the war is over.
The air raid shelters are blooming clover.
Flapping umbrellas fill the lanes—
My London Bridge in rain again.

Oh! England, my Lionheart!
Peter Pan steals the kids in Kensington Park.
You read me Shakespeare on the rolling Thames—
That old river poet that never, ever ends.
Our thumping hearts hold the ravens in,
And keep the tower from tumbling.

Oh! England, my Lionheart,
Oh! England, my Lionheart,
Oh! England, my Lionheart,
I don’t want to go.

Oh! England, my Lionheart!
Dropped from my black Spitfire to my funeral barge.
Give me one kiss in apple-blossom.
Give me one wish, and I’d be wassailing
In the orchard, my English rose,
Or with my shepherd, who’ll bring me home.

Oh! England, my Lionheart,
Oh! England, my Lionheart,
Oh! England, my Lionheart,
Oh! England, my Lionheart,
Oh! England, my Lionheart,
I don’t want to go.
